I Found Love
Meet my husband Joseph - we were strangers from two different sides of the world until a dear friend of mine, Sheila, created and managed an account for me in catholicmatch.com. It was the time of my life when everyone around me was excited and praying for me to have a lifetime partner.
A simple hello message from a man named Joseph caught my attention. In my mind he probably was a kind-hearted person and since my name is Maria, I told myself why not give it a try.
He hails from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, from an equally huge & beautiful family as I had - the beginning of a series of our common denominators. We also found out we had similarities in our personal experiences and aspirations in life. He is a practicing Catholic, mountaineer, loves to travel the world and was actively involved in outreach programs.
After eight months of communicating online, he visited me in Singapore in September 2015 which officially started our relationship. Truly, his name Joseph speaks for itself. We shared the same values & faith which I considered my non-negotiable. I felt the purity & sincerity of his intention. He went to the Philippines and spent Christmas with my family. On Thanksgiving of 2016, I met his loving parents and family, where I felt loved and welcomed.
I was then affirmed that he is the answer to my prayer- my God’s gift. Long distance relationship (LDR) became easy for both of us, probably because we handled things in a more matured way as we were. We got engaged in September 2017 in Singapore and continued to nourish our love-relationship through prayer, trust, respect and constant communication.
We were in LDR for four years and we closed the distance, by the grace of God, when I got an opportunity for an internal job transfer in the USA plant of the company I was working for.
On May 25, 2019 at St. Benedict Parish, Greensburg PA, we sanctified our love in the sacrament of Holy matrimony attended by his family and friends. To share the great joy and thanksgiving to my family and friends who had been journeying with me, we also had our church wedding in the Philippines at Holy Land Subic on December 28, 2019.
Our love story is a testimony of God’s love & faithfulness not only to me and Joseph, but to everyone who had been journeying & praying with me: my family, SFC-CFC (Singles for Christ - Couples for Christ) family & friends.
Truly, God makes all things beautiful in His time & God will make a way, no matter how impossible the situation may seem. He is unstoppable to make it happen.
I firmly believed God will move heaven and earth just to bring two people together who are called to share their love for each other. It was a long journey but definitely well worth the wait and we will continue to trust in God’s amazing love and ways to work through us and in us in our married life.
