Nunilon C. Livelo, Respected Audit Consultant and Well-Loved Father, Dies at 87
Nunilon C. Livelo, warmly called Noli by family and friends, a highly respected accountant and auditor in the oil and gas and later telecommunications industries, died on April 6 in his hometown Imus, Cavite, Philippines. He was 87.
Born in Cavite City but moved with his family as a young boy to Imus Cavite, Noli had always been athletic and a standout in almost any major sports: basketball, baseball, bowling, golf and his favourite, tennis. He was a basketball varsity player at Far Eastern University and was a charmer due to his cool looks, athleticism, and smart disposition. Noli actively played competitive tennis well into his 70s.
He graduated from Far Eastern University around 1952 where he studied Commerce major in Accounting. He worked at Philippine National Bank, Sycip Gorres Velayo and Co, Getty Oil, Landoil and Eastern Telecoms Philippines Inc. He held leadership roles until his retirement and had always been well-loved by his colleagues for his intellect, generosity, and soft-heartedness. He developed deep and meaningful friendships with colleagues.
Married to equally loved and respected Imus Institute High School principal, Fe Darvin Livelo, the couple had five children who were well nurtured with love and good education: Joey, Glenn (deceased), Dennis, Sandy, and Cherry.
As a young man, Noli was a favourite escort choice for school and town muses. But his eyes and heart had always been set on Fe. He is popular in his hometown as a great dancer, particularly in boogie and loves playing music by Frank Sinatra, James Taylor, Jose Feliciano, Herb Alpert, Burt Bacharach, Boz Scaggs and yes, Michael Jackson.
Noli’s favourite song was Smile by Nat King Cole and the lyrics reveal his tough yet soft outlook in life. His kids grieve yet remember him lovingly. They miss him. But they also know Noli lives in each of them. And his precious advice will go on and on to the next generation because they know every advice given by Noli to his sons and daughters were made out of pure love that only a great Dad like him can give.
